The 7th year of Chennai Marathon, Skechers Performance Chennai Marathon 2019 (Previously Known as, The Wipro Chennai Marathon) happens to be the largest sporting event in Chennai. The Marathon is organized by Chennai Runners, which consists of passionate runners since 2006. It is one of the few running events in the country that is entirely organized by the running community.
Considered to be the largest sporting event in Chennai, the Chennai Marathon is now the country’s second largest marathon after Mumbai. There were three race categories, the 10Km, the Half Marathon (21.097 Km) and Full Marathon (42.195 Km) till the last edition. This year there was a new distance/category Perfect 20 Miler (32.186 Km).
The year on year increase of participants in the Marathon emphasis the fact that people are adapting fitness and wish to challenge themselves in the becoming better and more healthy.
In pursuit to make Fitness more accessible and affordable URUFIT is building a futuristic technology which we validated at the Chennai Marathon with Team Falco (A unit of Dhammzsports). Team Falco a squad of performance based athletes in the field of running ran the marathon using our technology. The runners participated in the perfect 20 Miler, Half Marathon and 10Km. We were able to validate our technology with these athletes. Their support towards understanding our vision towards enabling fitness among people through technology is encouraging for a startup like us. We are envisioning towards bringing change in the fitness and health space.
